About
Shop Overview
This online shop specializes in the works of Satoshi Imazu, an artist from Asahikawa, Hokkaido. In addition to acrylic and oil paintings, we sell figurines of characters that appear in the artist's flat paintings, which are created using a 3D printer.
We also focus on art goods such as accessories and lampshades as "usable art" to make art feel more familiar to people.

About the work
The basic concept of all of my works is to express "the lives of the inhabitants of a world other than this one."
Acrylic painting
This is a work from the artist's early career. Initially, he was conscious of pop art, and created the work in the hope that viewers would be excited by imagining the worlds expressed in the work.
His early acrylic paintings were done on paper, but his later works are done on illustration board.
Oil painting
There were many things I couldn't express with acrylic paintings, so I started using oil paintings.
The concept and worldview are the same as the acrylic paintings, but the colors used are more delicate.
The size of the work is also larger than that of an acrylic painting.
Figures
I use a 3D printer to create characters that appear in flat paintings such as acrylic and oil paintings. 3D printers can only print rough shapes with a single color and uneven surfaces, and they cannot print complex shapes (apart from expensive, high-performance machines)...
・Create data using 3D software on your computer.
- Output each part separately, such as hands and feet.
・Carefully polish each part.
Assemble the parts and fill in any gaps between them.
· Polish the assembled parts while adjusting the shape to give them a sense of unity.
・Apply a base coat for painting. Once dry, polish the base coat. Repeat this process about three times.
- Apply each color about two times.
Once dry, apply two coats of coating material.
As you can see, it is a very labor-intensive piece.
Three-dimensional works
Initially we used mortar, but the body was heavy and prone to breaking, so we now use a 3D printer or epoxy resin.
Each piece is a large-scale work that takes at least three months to complete, and is basically a one-of-a-kind piece.
accessories
We create a prototype using a 3D printer, then make a mold of the prototype in silicone and pour epoxy resin into the mold to create the product.
Unlike metal, it is difficult to reprocess after hardening, so for items that have different sizes, such as fingers, we create a prototype and mold for each size.
Lampshade
It is made by cutting and gluing together plates made of epoxy resin. The connection part to the lamp is made with a 3D printer.
These are one-of-a-kind pieces that require a lot of effort in cutting, assembling and polishing the epoxy resin.
